Although I typically start my day with a cup of coffee, it’s been nearly a decade since I’ve been able to consume any more than a single mug without being overcome with jitters. For this reason, I’m an avid tea drinker, usually switching to a cup of black tea, chai, or matcha in the afternoon and winding down at night with chamomile. As I’ve recently written, I came across my new go-to bag this season for pumpkin spice coffee at home. However, I’ve been excited to also see several pumpkin teas available this fall to make it so all of my warm beverages can be seasonally appropriate. What more can you ask for?

I’ve been particularly excited about the Pumpkin Pie Matcha from DavidsTea, which offers a cozy cup of matcha and a hint of pumpkin spice. It’s ideal for matcha lovers who don’t want overly sweet pumpkin flavorings but just the right amount for a little fall upgrade.

I was surprised to actually smell the warm pumpkin pie flavorings when I first opened the packet. I wasn’t sure how the aroma would carry with matcha versus coffee beans, but it was certainly present. I compared the aroma to regular matcha I had on hand which brought the scent out even more.

As far as making the matcha goes, it’s actually a drink mix, so you use more powder than usual, whisk with a little water, and then fill all the way. I found it best when mixed with creamy oat milk. And, because there’s sugar in the mix, I don’t need to add my usual swirl of simple syrup that I like with matcha drinks.

So many reviewers on the DavidsTea rave about this matcha being the ultimate fall drink. Many also speak highly of the subtle pumpkin taste, which I agree is a major plus. It’s not at all overly sweet and the pumpkin doesn’t overpower the matcha. Rather, they fuse together in a surprisingly harmonious way.

I’m glad to have come across this simple yet delightful mix to add to my rotation of cozy fall beverages. Whether you’re already a matcha fan or a pumpkin spice lover interested in trying something new, I highly recommend giving this Pumpkin Pie Matcha a shot! And, if you want to try out more seasonal teas, DavidsTea has collections of Halloween and fall flavors as well as even more pumpkin teas, including Pumpkin Earl Grey and Pumpkin Chai.
